Under the Odisha Mission Shakti Scheme, the government is set to extend financial support of Rs 15000 to each eligible self-help group that has not yet benefited from micro-credit or revolving funds from the government. The money will also aid in obtaining bank linkage by increasing the group Corpus, and cater to the immediate requirements of the self-help group.
Rotating Fund-
Financial assistance will be granted to Block Level Federations (BLFs) under this program, providing Rs. 25 lakh per federation. The grant will be made available in two phases to ensure maximum impact. With these funds, self-help groups will be able to enhance their abilities and achieve financial autonomy. Furthermore, these funds will be available to members of self-help groups to invest in their businesses according to their business plans.
Mission Shakti loan-
The Odisha state government launched the Mission Shakti loan scheme in 2013, aimed at providing accessible credit to women’s self-help groups. Initially, the scheme offered loans of up to Rs 300,000 at a 2% annual interest rate. In an effort to encourage more self-help groups to invest in their livelihoods, the interest rate was lowered to 1% for women’s self-help groups. The scheme was later revised in 2019, with beneficiaries no longer required to pay any interest on loans up to Rs 300,000, provided that the loan is repaid on time. Loans under this scheme are provided by scheduled commercial banks and cooperative banks that operate on core banking solutions.
