For the academic year 2023-2024, the admissions for the Higher Secondary (HS) First Year Course in various colleges across Assam will be conducted exclusively through the DARPAN portal. The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has announced that the portal will be accessible from May 29 to June 17, 2023. Offline admissions will not be conducted by any institutions as per the directive of AHSEC. The registration process for the academic year 2023-2024 will commence in the first week of August 2023. It is important to note that only students who have successfully completed the admissions process through the DARPAN portal will be eligible to proceed with the registration process.
Guidelines for Students
- The DARPAN Portal is the designated platform for submitting applications by applicants.
- Applicants can modify their student profile only once before the university verifies their applications.
- Each student can submit a maximum of five (5) applications in total.
- The DARPAN portal will provide access to the published Selection List and Waiting List for admission into the first year of high school. Students will receive SMS notifications regarding their selection status.
- Students are advised to promptly accept only one admission offer provided by the university through their portal login ID after the release of the Selection List.
- Once an application has been approved, students will not be able to transfer to another institution.
- To complete the admissions process, students must enroll within the specified timeframe at the respective institution.
- During the admission process, students will have the opportunity to update their preferred subject(s) or stream. The concerned institution will be responsible for updating this information in the portal on the same day.
Guidelines for Institutions
- Institutions must ensure that admissions for the HS First Year program undergo online verification. Once applications are received, the institution will not be able to validate them.
- After verifying the applications, the respective institutions will prepare the Selection List and Waiting List for admission into the first year of high school.
- Students can view the selection list and waiting list for admission on the website (www.darpan.ahsec.in). Additionally, students will receive an SMS notification regarding their admission status.
- When there are vacancies on the waiting list or changes in student acceptance of admission, the relevant institution must regularly update the selection list accordingly.
- Institutions must utilize their Institution Login ID throughout the admission process, at the latest by June 17, 2023. This is crucial when a selected student accepts the admission offer from the institution. The “Confirm admission” option must be clicked to complete the admission process on the portal.
- Only applicants who have accepted the admission offer will have their admission confirmed by the university. All institutions are advised to physically verify all the documents provided by students at the time of admission.
- Changes to a student’s desired subject(s) or stream can only be made by the institution during the time of admission with the student’s authorisation. The institution must update this information in the portal on the admission day.
- Even after the completion of the admissions process, modifications to a student’s stream and subjects can be accessed through the DARPAN portal. However, once students have submitted their registration in full, they are not allowed to change their subject(s) or stream.
- The institution has the authority to remove students from the Selection List if they fail to accept the admission offer within the given period. Consequently, after removing applications from the selection list, the institution can add new students from the waiting list.
- It is not permissible for institutions to admit students without their consent.
- Enrolling students from other institutions through the institutions listed under the DARPAN portal is not permitted.
- In the event of students uploading incorrect documents, the concerned institution will have the option to upload the necessary documents as provided by the students.

- Next, navigate to the student admission section from the homepage. Click on the corresponding option, and a new page will be presented on your screen.

- Now, fill in the form with all the required details like:

- PIN No
- Sub Division
- Name of the Principal
